
Located above the head, outside the body this chakra links individual and universal. Sahasrara or the crown chakra is generally considered to be the chakra of consciousness.Sahasrara chakra symbolizes detachment from illusion; an essential element in obtaining supramental higher consciousness of the truth that one is all and all is one. The crown chakra is the body's primary co-ordination center. It ensures a connection to universal sources of energy and with the world as a whole. Often referred as thousand-petaled lotus, it is said to be the most subtle chakra in the system, relating to pure consciousness, and it is from this chakra that all the other chakras emanate. A balanced crown chakra allows for expanded awareness on an emotional level. The crown chakra signifies illumination.When a yogi is able to raise his or her kundalini, energy of consciousness, up to this point, the state of samadhi, or union with God, is experienced.
Physical function: The Crown chakra is associated with the pineal gland, brain and central nervous system.
Psychological function: Knowingness, Wisdom, Inspiration, Charisma, Awareness, Higher Self, Meditation, Self Sacrificing, Visionary
Lesson: Knowingness–The right to aspire. Dedication to the divine consciousness and trusting the universe. Learning about one’s spirituality. Our connection to the concept of “God” or a higher intelligence. Integrating one’s consciousness and subconsciousness into the superconsciousness.
